Jangjayeon Case

Jayeon Jang, a young actress, wrote some notes before she died by suicide. These listed the names of people who forced her to engage in prostitution. Celebrities such as journalists, politicians, businessmen, and movie directors were on that list. However, Korean police closed the case on 7 March 2009 because she had taken anti-depression medicine. They had thought it was a simple suicide incident until then. At first, Jayeon’s list was revealed by Jang-ho You, who was her manager. However, her family did not want to disclose this list to the public, so it was burned. Later, the damaged list paper was found and disclosed by a journalist who worked for KBS broadcast. Then, the police started to reinvestigate this case, but only 2 people (Jang-ho You and the management CEO) were sentenced as guilty because of little evidence. After 10 years, the "Prosecutor Committee" that work for dark history, the #MeToo movement, and the appearance of a witness named Ji-oh Yoon, who was close to Jayeon, reignited interest in this case. But the journalists who were accused of sexual molestation against Jayeon were found not-guilty. There are only rumors and revelation wars concerning Jayeon and Ji-oh.
