Protest about gender equality in employment at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and the origin of Act of Gender Equality in Employment.

In 1987, women needed to sign an unequal contract to work in National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall. This contract said that they should remain single, were not allow to be pregnant, and that they must quit when they reach over 30 years old. At that time, several women employees who were forced to quit wrote a deposit letter to The National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. The reply said that women who are over 30 years old are not polite enough to be receptionists. A women's group found that there was no law to sue the National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. They provided a proposal about gender equality in employment, which is the origin of the Act of Gender Equality in Employment of 2001.
