Monogamous of marriage in 1969

The British Hong Kong Government published a white-paper in 1967 explaining its main proposal about marriage issues, which garnered huge attention from the public. On July 18th, after two years, the Hong Kong Government finally published the Gazette to announce the monogamy of marriage, and then announced its official implementation of the Marriage Reform Ordinance on October 7th, 1971. From then on, all Chinese marriages, including customary marriages, modern marriages, and concubines were abolished, except for customary marriages bofore the implementation of the ordinance. After the implementation of the Marriage Reform Ordinance, all marriage promises must have been held under the ordinance, and couples had to promise to be the only love of each other before officially recognized witnesses, such as administrative officers, the Justice of the Peace (JP), or priests.
